One of the great things about Twitter is the communities that have built up around the platform, specifically RoCur accounts. As the administrator of @WeRWorld, running this community is one of the most worthwhile things I have ever done.
Without knowing the future of the Twitter platform, or the dynamics of the population (read: people jumping ship to Mastodon,) replicating this on Mastodon seemed a logical thing to do. (Confession, I couldn't see how it could work, but someone challenged me...)
The terminology may be a bit different, but the concept is the same - see the WeRWorld site for more information.
TL;DR - Don't Be A Dick.
WeRWorld is an inclusive community, where we want everyone to feel welcome, and, above all, safe - both hosts and followers. The following are unacceptable, from followers or hosts:
Followers, or anyone else interacting with the account engaging in any of these behaviours will be blocked. Hosts doing so will be removed, and toots deleted.
Note that several instances where these behaviours are known to exist have been removed from federation, so should not be visible in the timeline. (Hosts: if you see any instances the timeline that do not reflect our community values, let @WeRWorldAdmin know, so they can be added to the blacklist; keeping the community safe is our highest priority.)
If anyone suffers any abuse (from followers or hosts,) or is in any other way made to feel uncomfortable, please contact admin, and include screenshots, if possible/appropriate.
The primary language for the account is English, but hosts speaking other languages are encouraged to tweet in those other languages as well, as long as people don't get left out. Please bear in mind that English is often a second (or third, or more) language for many people, and it is neither polite nor appropriate to "correct" their English, unless they ask specifically for advice.
Direct Messages - please note that direct messages sent to/from the WeRWorld account are NOT private, may be seen by future hosts, and will definitely be seen the account administrator.
As we are only just launching (remind me to update this in a year or so 😜) there is no schedule in place, nor formal sign-up process. If you'd like to spend a week (or more, or less) here, or would like to know anything, just toot at @WeRWorld, or drop a mail to email@example.com.
Comments or suggestions on these guidelines are always welcome.
